About Austin

Pictures say a thousand words, and this one is probably no exception (except that I’m usually much safer when I climb).

Originally from Portland, OR, I’ve ALWAYS had a strong draw toward adventure, and usually do anything I can to get my friends and family involved.

In the era where many of us live our social lives through our phones, I’m fascinated by a good adventure’s ability to yank us off of the lonely islands of our digital world and bring us together as a beautiful tribe of explorers. There’s something about the combination of fun, sheer challenge and natural beauty that inherently emboldens a group of adventure seekers to rely on each other, bond together and use our unique strengths to achieve a goal worth celebrating.

It’s a beautiful formula—improve ourselves by helping each other! Through a lifetime of adventure, I’ve seen the outdoors enable people to dig down and bring the best out of themselves and each other.

In that spirit, these adventures have become much more than just a fun weekend hobby, and more of a philosophical framework and/or microcosm for life’s greater meaning and a formula for self-improvement.

Also I like dogs.

……and whiskey. :)
