Upcoming Events

True to the local culture, events in Sedona, AZ are a lot like events in Portland, OR—artsy, spiritual, and for the most part pretty low-key with the occasional Oktoberfest or Mountain Biking competition.

If you’re not on the same wavelength as the town's spiritual vibe, you probably won’t like most of the local events, unless they’re truly meant for tourists.

Our advice—keep an open mind, dig in and try something different. You never know what you’re going to find.

Our Favorite Local Digs

Food & Beverage

Photo: The Chocola Tree

  • Dellapaine - Argentinian restaurant with a great vibe. Their El Paso burger was one of the best hamburgers I've ever had…if not the best.

  • Chocola Tree Organic Eatery - This place nails it with the ambiance—sit in the backyard garden area. The food itself is very solid for a vegan and vegetarian restaurant, and that’s coming from a guy who loves meat. Get the Heart Love drink.

  • Synergy Coffee Shop - Tiny co-op coffee shop in west Sedona with great coffee and locally made “sipping chocolate”. The girls working there impressed us the most about this place—they were very friendly and told us about some great finds in town away from the touristy scene. Creekside Coffee is great as well if you don’t mind a more crowded touristy scene.

  • Natural Grocers - Forget Safeway or Whole Foods, this place is much better. Not a great place for meat products, although they do have some selection. There’s a Safeway across the street—it’s worth the extra stop.

Outdoor Gear, Rentals & Advice

  • The Hike House - This place should be your first stop in town. Calling these guys helpful would be a huge understatement. It’s a hiking gear & apparel business with a coffee shop extension, where the shop employees will pull out maps and help you plan out all your favorite hikes. I will be forever loyal to this place because of the help John & Derek gave us.

  • Over the Edge Bike Shop - We had a great experience with these guys in every way EXCEPT…..if you’re looking for beginner level trails, make sure you’re really clear with the shop employees about your skill level. Our guy was incredibly helpful and spent a lot of time with us picking out trails, but he blissfully assumed we were better than we really were and sent us out on some difficult trails with brand new riders in our group. I’ll give them credit because their intentions were good. The bike rentals themselves were the cheapest I’ve seen, given the high quality of the bikes themselves.

  • Canyon Outfitters - Great shop for outdoor gear if you’re going climbing or backpacking. Don’t expect too much helpful advice from the shop employee (Catherine/Kathleen?).
